Macro Alien is operated by Moonlight Be The Light, LLC. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to this company.

• Account data — name, email, authentication provider (Google or Apple Sign-In)
• Profile data — age, height, weight, sex, activity level, sport, goals, dietary preferences
• Food logs — foods logged, macros, meal periods, timestamps, serving sizes
• Weight entries — body weight measurements over time
• Saved foods & recipes — custom foods and recipe templates you create
• AI chat context — messages you send to the Macro AI coach (processed in real time, not stored long-term by the AI provider)
• Apple Health data — body weight, active calories, steps, workouts, and sleep (only if you grant access)
• Progress photos — photos you take for body composition tracking (stored securely, never shared)
• Device data — device type, browser, OS (for compatibility and debugging)

• Display your macro dashboard, progress charts, and food diary
• Calculate TDEE, macro targets, and adaptive recommendations
• Power the AI coach with context about your goals and recent intake
• Estimate macros from food photos and label scans
• Sync data across your devices
• Improve the app through anonymized, aggregated analytics

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, hosting. Firebase Privacy
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes food photos, label scans, and AI coach messages. We send food context (no PII) to generate responses. Anthropic Privacy
• FatSecret API — food search queries (search terms only, no user identity)
• USDA FoodData Central — public nutrition database lookups
• RevenueCat — subscription management. RevenueCat Privacy

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Macro Alien reads the following data:

• Body weight — used for TDEE calculation, weight trend charts, and progress tracking
• Active calories & steps — used to improve TDEE accuracy via adaptive energy modeling
• Workouts — used to correlate training activity with energy expenditure
• Sleep — used to provide context in weekly AI coaching assessments

Macro Alien may write nutrition data (calories, protein, carbs, fat) back to Apple Health so it appears alongside your other health metrics.

Your Apple Health data is:

• Never sold, rented, or shared with third parties
• Never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining
• Never shared with third parties for purposes unrelated to your health and fitness
• Stored only in your private Firestore database (encrypted at rest and in transit)
• Deletable at any time by disconnecting Apple Health in the app or deleting your account

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Period.

AI calls send food-related context (e.g., “logged 200g chicken breast”) to generate coaching responses. Your name, email, and identity are never sent to AI providers.

FatSecret receives search query text only — no user identity or account data.

Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, which encrypts data at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled via Google and Apple's OAuth providers with industry-standard security.

We do not store passwords — authentication is delegated to Google/Apple.

Your data persists in our systems for as long as your account is active. We do not automatically delete inactive accounts.

You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app (Profile → Delete Account). You can also request deletion by emailing support@moonlightbethelight.com. We process deletion requests within 30 days.

Macro Alien is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us for removal.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
